Same as it Never Was
Same as it Never Was is a project that unites my experiences as an autoworker with my artistic practice. Former and current autoworkers participated in this project by choosing catchphrases they preferred from a list of automotive advertising slogans. Removed from their slick marketing aesthetics, the slogans become vague and open to broad interpretations. Out of context this advertising language can be inspirational, encouraging, and even introspective. This project is ongoing and continues to develop, the participation of the autoworkers mimic the repetitive process of industrialized labour and reassesses the distinction between standard labour and artistic production.
